Fan compiles daily drawings into art book for Slay the Spire 2

A dedicated Slay the Spire fan has turned two years of daily sketches into a published art book celebrating the release of Slay the Spire 2. Known as PixelPenguin on Reddit, the artist drew imperfect pieces each day leading up to the game's launch. The book, featuring the first 300 works, is now available for purchase on Amazon.

PixelPenguin began the project roughly two years before the release of Slay the Spire 2, committing to create a drawing every day using MSPaint. The effort culminated in a book titled Drawing Badly until STS2 Comes Out Vol. 1-300, which the artist shared on Reddit by posting a photo of themselves holding the colorful volume. Although the book covers the initial 300 pieces, PixelPenguin continued the daily ritual, reaching the 620th drawing on March 5.

The publication includes a foreword by Ursa Ryan, an artist who previously undertook a similar challenge: drawing daily until the release of Civilization 7. In the Amazon listing, PixelPenguin described the book as "a tribute to patience, obsession, and the strange joy of doing something pointless for so long it becomes a part of your identity." This unofficial collection allows fans to explore the full progression without sifting through years of Reddit posts.

Slay the Spire 2 has seen strong success since its launch, with over half a million players purchasing and engaging with the game during its opening weekend. The title supports both solo and co-operative play, contributing to its appeal. For enthusiasts, official plushies based on the game are also available, offering collectible items tied to its characters.
