Berlin/Trier. Federal Building Minister Verena Hubertz has become a mother. The 38-year-old SPD politician gave birth to a son last week, as her ministry confirmed to the German Press Agency.

"Welcome, little miracle," Hubertz wrote on social media alongside a photo showing an adult hand holding her child's. "We are all well, and my partner and I are very happy and grateful," she added in a statement.

Hubertz is currently on leave from her office and is being represented by her state secretaries, with Olaf Joachim (SPD) taking over as chief of staff. She plans to gradually resume her duties from March. "The baby will be there, whether in the Bundestag's daycare or in the ministry," the minister said.

Born in Trier, Rhineland-Palatinate, Hubertz has been Federal Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Building since 2025. She had publicly announced her pregnancy in August. The family is currently enjoying their new family happiness.
