Two-time Formula 1 champion Fernando Alonso has stated he remains motivated to race and hopes the 2026 season will not mark his retirement. He emphasized his lifelong passion for racing despite his team's challenging start to the year.
Fernando Alonso, who debuted in Formula 1 at the 2001 Australian Grand Prix, has raced for Minardi, Renault, McLaren, Ferrari, and Alpine before joining Aston Martin in 2023. At 44, he is the grid's oldest driver and insists he will recognize the right time to retire. Speaking at the Historic Grand Prix of Monaco, Alonso said, 'I love what I do. I love racing. I did my first race when I was three years old, and I am 44, so 41 years of my life I have been behind a steering wheel.' He added, 'The time will tell. I will feel it. At the moment, I don't feel it is that time yet. I feel competitive, I feel motivated, I feel happy when I drive. So, yeah, hopefully not the last season.'
