Epic Games has restored Fortnite to the Apple App Store worldwide except Australia, following last year’s court ruling against Apple’s in-app payment rules.
Fortnite returned to the Apple App Store on May 19 in most countries, excluding Australia. Epic Games said the update follows its court victory over Apple and comes as the company prepares further legal steps on payment policies. The title was removed from the store in 2020 after Epic added its own payment system to avoid Apple’s 30 percent commission. A ruling last year first enabled reappearance in the United States and Europe. Epic CEO Tim Sweeney posted that the global return marks the start of the final phase in the Epic v Apple case, noting that regulators worldwide are watching and that Apple is under pressure to reduce its fees. In Australia, Epic won a separate case yet Apple continues to enforce its original terms; the game will stay out until acceptable terms are in place or a court intervenes. Fortnite had already returned to the Google Play Store earlier this year.
