Lewis Hamilton secured his first victory for Ferrari in Barcelona on 14 June 2026. The win provided vindication for team principal Frederic Vasseur after a challenging first season together.
Hamilton, aged 40, claimed the win with a three-stop strategy in what was the fastest car of the season. He chased down rivals to deliver the result at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
The seven-time world champion credited Vasseur for listening to his requests for changes to the car. These included switching brake suppliers and appointing Carlo Santi as his race engineer.
Vasseur downplayed his own role after the race. He said the success came from a collective effort and Hamilton's own commitment to reset after difficult periods.
Hamilton had pushed for structural adjustments, including meetings with Ferrari leadership. He described Vasseur as supportive despite the pressures of integrating a vocal driver into the team culture.
