George MacKay has shared his interest in playing a James Bond villain while promoting his new film Rose of Nevada. The movie, co-starring Callum Turner, opens in limited theaters this weekend.
MacKay described the appeal of a villain part in the 007 franchise. He said such a role would allow him to chew the scenery and exit quickly after strong scenes.
Rose of Nevada follows two fishermen who time travel back 30 years after an accident at sea. The story is set in a Cornish village where locals mistake them for missing men from the past.
Director Mark Jenkin shot the film on 16mm with a Bolex camera. This approach limited each take to 27 seconds and required all sound to be added later.
MacKay praised Turner as a dedicated cinephile and noted their shared London roots. The pair learned fishing techniques for the ocean sequences in the production.
