Governor Yusuf renews commitment to reduce multidimensional poverty in Kano

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has renewed his administration’s commitment to addressing multidimensional poverty in Kano through access to opportunities, healthcare, housing, education and sustainable livelihoods.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, represented by his Deputy Murtala Sule Garo, gave the assurance at a North-West policy dialogue on 9 June 2026. The event was organised by UNICEF in collaboration with the European Union to strengthen social protection systems and innovative financing mechanisms in the region. Garo acknowledged the support of the European Union and UNICEF, saying their partnership has contributed significantly to strengthening social protection frameworks and improving access to essential services. He called on stakeholders to strengthen partnerships, share best practices and mobilise resources to build inclusive social protection systems, adding that the commitment should be measured by the impact on citizens’ lives.
