HBO has unveiled the full trailer for House of the Dragon season 3, which showrunner Ryan Condal described as the biggest production yet during a video message at CCXP. The trailer teases the bloody Battle of the Gullet and the Dance of the Dragons. The new season premieres on HBO on Sunday, June 21, at 9 p.m. ET.
Showrunner Ryan Condal told fans at CCXP on Sunday that House of the Dragon season 3 will be the 'biggest we've made by any margin, and by a wide measure.' HBO released the trailer shown to the CCXP crowd, building on a teaser from February. The nearly two-minute footage features intense fighting, screaming, and dragons, with Rhaenyra, played by Emma D'Arcy, declaring, 'There will be no doubt who the gods have chosen to rule.' It also shows Aemond, portrayed by Ewan Mitchell, casually sitting on the Iron Throne, alongside Tom Glynn-Carney's character appearing unenthused about the prospect. The trailer highlights the kickoff of the Dance of the Dragons war, positioning characters after season 2's conclusion for major events like the Battle of the Gullet. Condal previously addressed fan concerns about the wait, explaining the need for resources like construction, armor, costumes, and visual effects. 'We were trying to give the Gullet, which is arguably the most anticipated action event of Fire & Blood, the time and the space that it deserves,' Condal said. He promised it would be 'the biggest thing to date that we've pulled off' and a 'hell of a win.' Rotten Tomatoes shared the teaser trailer, confirming the June 21 premiere on HBO.
