Hong Kong set for thunderstorms and showers on Saturday, observatory says

Hong Kong's Observatory warned on Friday of thunderstorms and showers on Saturday, with unsettled weather persisting through the rest of the Easter holiday. A trough of low pressure will bring occasional showers, heavier at times, and fast-moving thunderstorms to the Guangdong coast. Sunday will be mainly cloudy with windy conditions on high ground and a few squally thunderstorms.

The Hong Kong Observatory said on Friday that a trough of low pressure will bring occasional showers—heavier at times—and some fast-moving thunderstorms to the Guangdong coast on Saturday.

"The trough of low pressure is expected to linger over the coast of southern China in the following couple of days. The weather will remain unsettled. There will be occasional showers with squally thunderstorms," the forecaster said.

Sunday is forecast to be mainly cloudy and windy on high ground, accompanied by a few squally thunderstorms. Relative humidity will range between 75 and 95 per cent throughout the weekend until Monday.

The warning comes during the Easter holiday period, alerting residents to expect unsettled conditions.
