Home affairs chief Alice Mak Mei-kuen said Hop On Management Company is gradually issuing more refunds to owners at fire-hit Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po after organising over 800,000 documents.
Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs Alice Mak Mei-kuen said on Saturday that the government-appointed administrator is settling contracts and refunding the remaining balance of the estate’s major repair fund and prepaid management fees.
She noted that Hop On Management Company had organised more than 800,000 documents to check residents’ payments and deposits. Mak described the records as chaotic because they had not been tidied up over the past several decades.
Mak stressed that owners would receive refunds from the estate’s funds even if they accepted the government’s buy-back plan. She did not specify which contracts were involved in the settlement process.
