Idris Elba has confirmed he was never considered for the role of James Bond. The actor addressed years of speculation in comments to People magazine.

Idris Elba told People that he was “honestly not in the race ever” and added that his “name’s not getting thrown out, no way.” He noted that producers are seeking a younger actor and wished the next 007 well, saying he cannot wait to see the result. Elba reiterated that he “wasn’t in the race in the first place.”
