Investigation into shooting threat at PUCV and explosive attack in Valparaíso hospital

Valparaíso's prosecutor's office ordered an investigation by the PDI following reports of threats of a shooting at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV) and an explosive attack at the Hospital Psiquiátrico del Salvador. The anonymous message cites personal mistreatments and claims affiliation with a supposed terrorist network. Authorities are working to identify the sender.

On Monday, the educational community at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV) received anonymous emails warning of a shooting in the university's facilities. The same message threatened to detonate explosives at the Hospital Psiquiátrico del Salvador, also in Valparaíso. The unidentified sender claims to have suffered mistreatment and bullying, and to have been admitted to the hospital where, he alleges, he endured 'mistreatments and torture' and was forced to adopt the Catholic religion.

The individual identifies as a member of the 'Red Terrorista 764', with which he plans to carry out the attacks. Following reports to local authorities, prosecutor Soledad Díaz instructed the Policía de Investigaciones (PDI) to clarify the facts. 'During this weekend and today, various complaints have been received at the Public Prosecutor's Office regarding an email circulating among PUCV students, detailing alleged plans to execute a terrorist attack against the university's facilities, as well as the Hospital Psiquiátrico El Salvador,' the prosecutor explained.

Díaz stated that an investigation order was issued to the PDI's Criminalistics Brigade, in conjunction with the Cybercrime Brigade, to conduct all necessary procedures and determine the identity of the responsible party. The probe aims to trace the message's origin and assess the threats' credibility, amid concerns in Valparaíso's educational and medical communities.
