James Ford has spoken about writing and recording his upcoming solo album while receiving chemotherapy for acute myeloid leukemia at Barts Hospital.
The former Simian Mobile Disco member and producer for artists including Arctic Monkeys and Blur created the record in just over two weeks during early 2025. The album, titled 'Lost In Another World' and released under his full name James Ellis Ford, is scheduled for August 14 via Domino.
Ford described the process in an interview, noting the isolation during treatment and an urge to reconnect with creativity. The lead single 'Overtones' reflects the otherworldly experience of chemotherapy-induced dreams.
He also highlighted gratitude for NHS staff and plans for live performances. These include a set at Green Man Festival in Wales on August 22 and a headline show at the Horse Hospital in London on September 17.
