Jasmine Paolini advanced to the fourth round of Wimbledon after a straight-sets win over Maria Sakkari. The Italian player broke down in tears during her post-match interview, reflecting on recent challenges.
Paolini defeated Sakkari 6-1, 6-2 in 66 minutes on Saturday. She described the victory as meaningful after months of tough results.
"A lot. You know… the last months were a little bit tough," Paolini said. "I’m really happy. Especially with how I played today."
The 30-year-old has now secured three wins at the tournament. She will face Alexandra Eala in the fourth round on Monday.
Eala also reached the second week after beating defending champion Iga Swiatek.
