Joe Budden has apologized to rapper Latto after comments about her song flow sparked backlash. The remarks came during discussion of her new album Big Mama.
Joe Budden issued an apology to Latto in a recently surfaced clip from a Patreon episode of the Joe Budden Podcast. He had suggested that her flow on the track “Hostage” from the album Big Mama reminded him of Drake’s cadence on the song “Shabang.” Latto responded by tweeting a picture of her handwritten lyrics to the song. Budden explained that he did not intend to accuse her of not writing her own raps and acknowledged how his words could be misinterpreted. “I wasn’t tryna play with your pen like that. I get how it sounded like that, so my bad,” Budden said in the clip. He added that influence from other artists is common when writing songs. Latto released Big Mama last week and has also been responding to separate issues involving Cardi B.
