Mexican influencer Karely Ruiz responded to criticism after a violent robbery at her home in San Nicolás de los Garza, Nuevo León, which occurred in the early hours of July 29.
Seven armed men entered the home in the Las Puentes neighborhood around 3:45 a.m. Jhon Echeverry, Ruiz's partner, was hit on the head to reveal the location of the money. The assailants took approximately 20,000 pesos in cash, jewelry valued at 200,000 pesos and electronic devices.
Ruiz issued a statement denying that the incident was a hoax to gain fame. “La gente está enferma. Tantos comentarios deseándole el mal a mi familia y diciendo que yo inventé todo por fama”, she wrote. She also announced she would pursue the case to the fullest extent.
The Fiscalía General de Justicia de Nuevo León is investigating the incident as robbery with violence and found no elements to treat it as an attempted kidnapping. Ruiz said the leak of her location makes her feel unsafe in her own home.
