Kazuo Ishiguro announces new WWII spy novel

Nobel Prize winner Kazuo Ishiguro will release a new novel titled Miss Lambert Steps Aboard Danger on March 9, 2027. The story is described as a blend of spy fiction and wit in the style of P.G. Wodehouse. It opens in 1938 London with a chance meeting between a man and an enigmatic woman.

The book marks Ishiguro's return to a 1930s British setting, similar to his earlier work The Remains of the Day. Publisher Jordan Pavlin of Knopf said the novel combines spy elements with distinctive humor.

Ishiguro has explored varied genres in past books, including dystopian themes in Never Let Me Go and reflections on memory in The Buried Giant. His 2021 novel Klara and the Sun examined technology through an AI perspective.

The announcement highlights continued interest in Ishiguro's ability to shift between historical and speculative narratives.
