La Florida's mayor, Daniel Reyes, announced the dismissal of 30 municipal officials for using medical licenses to travel abroad. The action follows 152 administrative inquiries into irregularities with these permits. Reyes stressed the commitment to proper use of public resources.
Mayor Daniel Reyes confirmed on Friday the dismissal of 30 officials from La Florida Municipality following administrative inquiries into the misuse of medical licenses. These workers had traveled abroad while on medical leave, which Reyes described as a "misuse of public resources" and "completely unacceptable".
"The municipality applied all rigorous disciplinary procedures to investigate these facts," Reyes assured. Of the 152 administrative summaries initiated, 30 resulted in dismissal and 18 in other sanctions including censures, reprimands, suspensions, and fines, depending on the severity of the cases.
The communal authority underscored his commitment to being "unrelenting in the proper use of public resources," to protect La Florida's residents. Disciplinary processes are ongoing, with further sanctions to be applied if additional irregularities are found.
The municipality reiterated it will maintain this course of action to ensure integrity in public service and proper use of resources.
