Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba addressed residents at Freedom Day celebrations in the Malamulele area, emphasising that true democracy requires tangible service delivery. She stated her administration would prioritise visible changes in response to local complaints.

Residents highlighted persistent issues, including inconsistent water supply, dilapidated roads, and the need for RDP houses and clinics. One resident said, “We have challenges around water provision and this has been ongoing from as long as I can remember. We are pleading with the government to step in because even our roads are dilapidated... We need RDP houses, we also need clinics because we have to walk distances to access them.”

Ramathuba praised President Cyril Ramaphosa for appointing the Madlanga Commission to probe corruption in the judiciary and law enforcement. In her speech, she remarked, “We would not have known how rotten the South African Police Services is... It was a sober decision to appoint Madlanga commission now we are hearing shocking and scary things.”

She also committed to combating gender-based violence.
