A Lufthansa Boeing 787-9 collapsed onto its nose at a Frankfurt Airport gate on Thursday after the nose landing gear gave way. Several crew members and ground staff were injured.
The incident occurred at 12:45 at gate Z15. The aircraft with registration D-ABPQ was scheduled to depart for Los Angeles 75 minutes later. No passengers were yet on board. Several of the 13 crew members and ground staff were injured and taken to hospitals. The severity of the injuries remains unclear. The German Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation (BFU) has begun inquiries. The plane sustained significant fuselage damage. The cause is not yet known. Lufthansa and Boeing are cooperating with authorities.
