The body of a man sought by police after his wife was found strangled on a barge in Osaka has been recovered from the sea nearby.
Mayumi Yokozeki, 53, was found at around 7:30 a.m. on July 15 on a barge moored beneath Namihaya Bridge in Taisho Ward. She was barefoot and wearing pajamas, with both legs fractured and discoloration around her neck. An autopsy showed she had been strangled to death.
Police believe she was killed and dropped from the bridge 40 meters below. Her husband, who was in his 60s, had been sought by police. His body was found in the sea not far from the bridge on July 19, though the information was not released until Friday.
The man's car was found near the spot from where he is believed to have jumped.
