Marcos hastens SEA’s largest dialysis center

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. directed the immediate completion of a new 13-story hemodialysis building at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute in Quezon City on Friday.

The facility, known as the HD Legacy Building, is set to become the largest dialysis center in Southeast Asia once finished by the end of 2027. It will sit on a 2,900-square-meter lot along East Avenue and accommodate up to 200 patients at a time with state-of-the-art machines.

Marcos inspected the site with Health Secretary Ted Herbosa, Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon and NKTI executive director Jose Dante Dator. He said full funding was released upfront to speed construction, allowing work on upper floors to proceed while lower floors are completed.

Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon said the building would finish by December 2027 and begin accepting patients in early 2028. Marcos also highlighted expanded PhilHealth benefits, including coverage for up to 156 hemodialysis sessions annually and increased Z Benefit Package amounts for both adult and pediatric patients.
