Mauricio Lizcano submits 1.8 million signatures for 2026

Presidential hopeful Mauricio Lizcano filed 1,839,930 signatures with the National Registry to formalize his bid for the 2026 elections. Representing the Colombianismo movement, Lizcano stressed a focus on decency and efficiency in governance. His campaign draws from direct consultations with citizens across various regions of the country.

Mauricio Lizcano, from the Colombianismo movement, formally filed 1,839,930 signatures with the National Civil Registry, confirming his candidacy for the Presidency of the Republic in 2026. This milestone follows over four months of travel across Colombia, where the aspirant directly engaged with students, businesspeople, social leaders, women, men, and rural and urban communities.

"We proposed to strike a blow against the extremes, and that's what we're doing with these signatures. With this support and this idea of governing Colombia with decency, efficiency, and transparency," Lizcano stated during the event, joined by his wife, his five children, and a caravan of 40 motorcyclists. His political proposal was built from the ground up, incorporating concerns about health, employment, education, security, and access to technology, gathered in public squares, markets, universities, and neighborhoods.

Lizcano's government program will be named "Family," inspired by his personal life. "I am a married man and father of five children. Just as I care for my family, I want to care for the children of all Colombians," he explained. He positions himself as a "rebel center," distanced from political polarization, arguing that extremes have not united the country.

The signature collection started in Bogotá and ended in San Andrés, with the last signature obtained during a national tour. "The best poll is to go listen to the people. No one had us on the radar, and today we are the second force with the most signatures for the Presidency in the entire country," Lizcano affirmed. These territorial experiences will form the foundation of his program, to be presented in the coming months.
