The official scrutiny of the presidential runoff ratified Abelardo de la Espriella's victory with a 99.997% match to the preliminary count. Final results show de la Espriella received 12,959,542 votes against Iván Cepeda's 12,708,712.
The National Civil Registry reported that 100% of the 118,350 installed tables were scrutinized. The figures almost entirely match the June 21 preliminary count, with minimal variations that reduced de la Espriella's lead by only 273 votes in departmental capitals.
The National Electoral Council installed the National Scrutiny Commission and defended the process transparency. Magistrate Cristian Ricardo Quiroz stated that the elections had the highest level of oversight in recent history and that all claims will be resolved according to the law.
Iván Cepeda's campaign filed 57,189 claims, but Senator María José Pizarro indicated they will respect the result certified by authorities. The official proclamation is the next step and the inauguration is scheduled for August 7.
