Sevilla's La Maestranza plaza hosted the sixth subscription bullfight of Feria de Abril on April 16 with a sold-out crowd. Six bulls from Álvaro Núñez were fought, uneven in appearance, mansos on horseback and noble but exhausted by the end.
Morante de la Puebla shone with the fourth bull, called an unpresentable novillo. He received it one-handed cape against the boards, performed tempered verónicas with music playing and crowd standing. He placed banderillas himself, including a quiebro pair from a tijeras chair, and with the muleta drew long muletazos, a round natural, and high ayudados while seated. He was awarded maximum trophies but a pinch and half thrust cost the ears; he got two laps and exited carried through the cuadrillas door after a failed Puerta del Príncipe attempt.
Víctor Hernández displayed valor and solemn bullfighting with his lot. In the third, exhausted but noble, he executed 20 monumental naturals and took an ear after a warned thrust. He offered the sixth arrimón to Morante and got an ovation.
Juan Ortega started with a kneeling larga cambiada on the second but hesitated against its caste; his faena ended incomplete with a low thrust and ovation. He struggled with the classless fifth on a thrust and silence.
