Chicago White Sox first baseman Munetaka Murakami has started baseball activities while recovering from a right hamstring strain.
The injury occurred on May 29 against the Tigers. Manager Will Venable said Murakami is running, throwing and hitting off a tee.
Venable added that the team will increase exposure to more difficult hitting and intensity in the cage. He noted it remains day by day with no real timeline.
Since May 30 the White Sox have averaged 4.93 runs per game, ranking 15th in Major League Baseball. Venable said the offense has not skipped a beat and praised contributions from across the lineup.
