An official bus from the Campoalegre mayor's office overturned after being hit by a truck on the road linking Neiva with Campoalegre. The crash left 40 passengers affected, three with serious injuries.
The incident took place on the night of May 22 at kilometer 95 in the area known as cruce de Riverita. The bus was returning from a training session in Neiva when the driver slowed down and was struck from behind by a truck that failed to brake in time.
Passengers were taken to the hospital in Campoalegre for evaluation. Most received preventive care, while three seriously injured individuals were transferred to medical centers in Neiva. No fatalities were reported.
At the time of publication there was no official information on the identities or condition of the injured. Videos shared on social media showed some occupants wearing clothing alluding to presidential candidate Iván Cepeda, coinciding with a campaign caravan held that day in the Huila capital.
