World No. 1 Nelly Korda moved into contention at the 2026 U.S. Women's Open after following advice from her sister Jessica during the second round.
Korda shot a four-under 67 in Friday's round at Riviera to reach two under par overall. She improved by six shots from her opening 73 after addressing issues with her driver. Jessica Korda, a six-time LPGA winner, suggested strengthening the grip to fix a tendency to lay the club off at the top. Nelly Korda said the change felt unusual but produced better results. “I just tried to strengthen my grip a little bit,” she said. “It felt super funky today, but I just trusted and went with it.” Korda now sits two shots behind the 36-hole leaders heading into the weekend.
