Netflix has unveiled the first trailer for its comedy-drama series Vladimir, starring Rachel Weisz as a professor whose infatuation with a colleague spirals into obsession. The show, adapted from Julia May Jonas's book, features a cast including Leo Woodall and John Slattery and is set to premiere on March 5. It consists of eight half-hour episodes produced by 20th Television.
The series Vladimir draws from Julia May Jonas's novel of the same name, centering on a woman named M, played by Rachel Weisz, who experiences a disruptive crush on her new colleague Vladimir, portrayed by Leo Woodall. In the trailer released on February 11, 2026, Weisz's character reflects on her fading appeal: “It’s come to my attention that I’ve just lost the ability to captivate... It’s like my husband and my students, even my daughter, find my entire personality useless. Truly what is more embarrassing.” The footage depicts M's fantasies escalating into mania, blurring reality and delusion, as Woodall's character notes, “I have a thing for crazy girls.”
Jonas, who serves as creator, writer, and executive producer, described the theme to Tudum: “It’s that feeling of being so full of creative energy because you have this lust or obsession for someone. Many people have felt that kind of opening [up] — how fun it is to want something.” The ensemble cast includes series regulars John Slattery, Ellen Robertson, and Jessica Henwick, alongside Matt Walsh, Kayli Carter, Miriam Silverman, Mallori Johnson, Tattiawna Jones, and Louise Lambert.
Weisz also executive produces, joined by Sharon Horgan; Stacy Greenberg and Kira Carstensen for Merman; Jason Winer and Jon Radler for Small Dog Picture Company; Shari Springer Berman; and Robert Pulcini. Berman and Pulcini direct the first two episodes, Francesca Gregorini handles the third, sixth, and seventh, and Josephine Bornebusch directs the fourth and fifth. The eight-episode first season premieres on Netflix on March 5.
