Facing the heatwave affecting France, Paris mayor Emmanuel Grégoire announced on Friday the nonstop opening of municipal parks and gardens as well as the deployment of 1200 air conditioners in schools.
The City of Paris is strengthening its measures in response to the heat episode. The 550 municipal parks and gardens will remain open day and night until the end of the heatwave, with the exception of a few particular sites.
The municipality also plans to deploy 1200 air conditioners in the 620 Parisian nursery and elementary schools. Each establishment must be equipped with at least one device by the end of next week.
Emmanuel Grégoire also mentioned concerns regarding the Fête de la Musique on Sunday, with preventive measures to come from the competent authorities.
