This is the first instance of three women or women-led acts collaborating to lead the ranking, which has run for 45 years. Previously, even two women topping the chart together had not occurred. The list of solo women No. 1s as lead acts has been limited; the last was Nita Strauss's "Dead Inside" featuring David Draiman in 2021, ending a drought since Alannah Myles's "Black Velvet" in 1990.
For Poppy and Courtney LaPlante, frontwoman of Spiritbox, this is their first No. 1 on the chart. Poppy had achieved three top 10 placements since 2024, with "The Cost of Giving Up" peaking at No. 7 in August. Spiritbox has two entries on the chart since 2021, led by "Perfect Soul" at No. 14 in 2025. Amy Lee secures her first solo No. 1, more than two decades after featuring on Seether's "Broken," which reached No. 9 in 2004. As Evanescence's vocalist, she previously led with "Afterlife" last year.
The trio represents the first acts to claim maiden No. 1s on Mainstream Rock Airplay in 2026 and the first lead acts since Architects' "Everything Ends" in September. "End of You," released as a standalone single, also climbs 18-15 on the Rock & Alternative Airplay chart, gaining 2.5 million audience impressions, up 15 percent for the week ending February 12, per Luminate. On the Hot Hard Rock Songs chart dated February 14, it rises 13-11, bolstered by 457,000 official U.S. streams tracked from January 30 to February 5.
Following the single, Poppy released the album Empty Hands, which entered at No. 7 on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart dated February 7 with 11,000 equivalent album units. All charts dated February 21 will update on February 18, delayed by the Presidents' Day holiday on February 16.
