The presidency has rejected former Anambra governor Peter Obi allegations that the federal government is targeting him. Special Adviser Bayo Onanuga described the claims as unfounded.
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on information and strategy, issued the response in a tweet on Wednesday. He addressed Obi comments on a car incident at the airport and assertions of political persecution.
Onanuga stated that the claims were without merit and accused Obi of exaggeration. He said Obi account indicated the incident resulted from flouting parking regulations.
The presidential aide also rejected Obi statements that he might not survive until the January 2027 election and that people were being discouraged from inviting him to events. Onanuga described these as a fabricated narrative.
Onanuga noted Obi substantial interest in Fidelity Bank Plc. He said the bank continues to thrive under current economic reforms and the government is not targeting the institution.
