Quantic Dream developers strike over Star Wars Eclipse layoffs

Striking staff at Quantic Dream have warned that planned layoffs of 115 developers will make it impossible to finish the upcoming Star Wars Eclipse game.

Developers at the studio behind Detroit: Become Human began industrial action this week to protest the job cuts. The action coincided with a visit from Lucasfilm Games representatives.

Workers say the layoffs stem from the closure of the studio's MOBA Spellcasters Chronicles last month. They argue that the 115 affected staff are essential for Star Wars Eclipse, which was announced in 2021.

"We believe that, as things stand, the game literally cannot be finished if the redundancy plan is implemented as currently scheduled," one developer told Gamekult.

Another added that the strike aims to save the project rather than sabotage it. The studio has stated that development of Star Wars Eclipse continues.
