Respiratory virus positivity hits record 52% in Chile

The Ministry of Health reported that positivity of respiratory samples reached 52% during epidemiological week 23, the highest figure of the year. Influenza A remains the predominant virus, though with a slight decline.

In the pediatric critical care bed network, occupancy reached 73.1%, and 33% of those hospitalized in those beds have respiratory conditions. Emergency visits for respiratory causes increased to 36.5% compared with the previous week.
