During epidemiological week 24 respiratory consultations reached 37.7% and hospitalizations grew 6.9%. The Health Ministry reported these figures on June 25 in the Weekly Winter Campaign Report 2026.
Sample positivity reached 53.3% between June 14 and 20. Influenza A remains predominant with 28.7% of positive tests and mainly affects children aged 5 to 14, followed by Influenza B with 23.2% of cases.
Valentina Pino, Winter Campaign coordinator, noted that the under-4 age group recorded a 23% increase in pediatric hospitalizations compared to the previous week. Jorge Vilches, Epidemiology chief at MINSAL, explained that WhatsApp messaging is being implemented in Arica y Parinacota, Coquimbo and Los Ríos for those over 60.
Influenza vaccination coverage reached 75.6% with 7,859,348 doses administered. The groups with lowest progress are children 6 months to 5 years (60.7%), pregnant women (66.3%) and people 60 and older (60.5%). Immunization against RSV reached 96.8%.
