Seoul-based rock band Pop Ents discussed its April mini-album Anything is Fine, with guitarist David Palmer explaining the ironic themes in a recent interview.
Palmer confirmed the title track addresses problems in the music industry. "The music industry is worse than ever. Everyone successful is a plant," he said.
The track Mogi Saeki draws a metaphor from mosquitoes to the anger felt during the December 2024 Yoon Suk Yeol coup attempt. Palmer noted the catharsis in repeatedly singing "I will never forgive you."
The band has evolved since founding member John Engle moved to the United States in 2024. Palmer now leads songwriting and the group is set to perform at the September Block Party festival.
