Silent Hill f writers read up to 200 books yearly

Producer Motoi Okamoto revealed that scriptwriters for Silent Hill f challenged each other to read between 100 and 200 books a year during production.

Okamoto made the comments at the recent CEDEC2026 conference during a talk titled "Silent Hill's production techniques: how to create a game that will be popular in the age of 'favourite characters'".

He explained that the writers, including those working with Ryukishi07, pressured each other to read extensively to grasp the author's style and quirks. "If you're going to commission a writer, you should read at least the majority of their entire body of work before commissioning them," Okamoto said.

The producer also discussed Konami's approach to reviving the series, noting that half the development team were in their 20s when the reboot was approved. He added that the prior team had been almost entirely replaced.

Silent Hill f has proven successful, with two actors from the game appointed as tourism ambassadors for Gero City in Japan. The next title, Silent Hill Townfall, is scheduled to release for PC and PlayStation 5 on 24th September.
