Sloane Stephens defeated Leyre Romero Gormaz 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 in the final round of qualifying on Thursday to reach the main draw of the 2026 French Open. The 2018 runner-up had missed the event last year due to injury.
Stephens won her first two qualifying matches in straight sets against Carol Lee and Lisa Pigato. Against Gormaz she dropped the opening set but recovered strongly to secure the victory and advance to the main draw at Roland Garros.
