Sony Pictures Classics replaces Row K at CinemaCon film showcase

Sony Pictures Classics will take the stage at CinemaCon's inaugural film showcase, stepping in for Row K Entertainment after the distributor withdrew due to financial difficulties. The event is set for April 13 at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The studio joins Studiocanal and Angel Studios in presenting upcoming films.

Sony Pictures Classics, known for Oscar winners like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Call Me By Your Name, fills the slot vacated by Row K Entertainment in the CinemaCon Film Showcase. Row K, which launched last year, pulled out earlier this week amid unpaid bills and poor box office performance for its debut release, Gus Van Sant's Dead Man's Wire. The company's pipeline includes a Cliffhanger reboot and Charlie Harper, starring Emilia Jones and Nick Robinson. Sony Pictures Classics, led by Tom Bernard and Michael Barker, brings recent Sundance premieres such as Ha-Chan, Shake Your Booty!, Bedford Park and The Only Living Pickpocket in New York. The studio saw success in 2025 with Oscar-nominated Blue Moon and the historical drama Nuremberg. Michael O’Leary, president and CEO of Cinema United, the organization behind CinemaCon, welcomed the last-minute addition. “We are excited to welcome Sony Pictures Classics to the inaugural CinemaCon Film Showcase as they bring audiences the kind of films that are essential to the future of exhibition,” O’Leary said. “Many thanks to Tom and Michael for their decades of support for the theatrical exhibition industry and their support of CinemaCon.” Studiocanal has produced films including How to Make a Killing, Paddington and Maria, while Angel Studios focuses on faith-based titles like Sound of Freedom, Homestead and Solo Mio.
