Chloé, a 14-year-old girl, was stabbed to death Wednesday morning in Fère-en-Tardenois. The 23-year-old suspect, Julien B., has admitted the stabbing but denies any homicidal intent.
Julien B. was arrested Wednesday evening in Soissons and placed in custody. He admitted carrying out the knife attack that killed the girl as she walked to school.
Soissons prosecutor Laureydane Ortuno said Thursday that the suspect denies any “homicidal intent.” Julien B., who has no job and lives with his parents, is known to police for carrying a weapon without legitimate reason in 2023.
The murder investigation has been assigned to gendarmes from the Amiens research section. The Soissons prosecutor’s office may transfer the case to the criminal division in Laon. Julien B. could be brought before a judge and formally charged as early as Thursday evening.
