Three women writers from Mysuru have been chosen for the Karnataka Lekhakiyara Sangha State-level Endowment Awards-2025. The awards, to be presented in April, recognize their contributions in literary essay, story writing, and children's literature. Each recipient has a notable background in writing and related fields.
The Karnataka Lekhakiyara Sangha, based in Bengaluru, has selected Suchitra Hegde, Kusuma Ayarahalli, and Meena Mysore for its State-level Endowment Awards-2025. These honors will be conferred in April and highlight works in specific literary categories.
Suchitra Hegde receives the Nagarathna Chandrashekar Endowment Award for Literary Essay for her book ‘Minchu Hulada Daari’. Originally from Kumta taluk in Uttara Kannada district, she now resides in Mysuru. She has previously earned the State-level ‘Amma’ award for her travelogue ‘Jagava Suttuva Maaye’.
Kusuma Ayarahalli is awarded the Lakshmidevamma Award for Story Writing for ‘Kapile Kanda Kathegalu’. From Ayarahalli near Mysuru, she started her career in media through Akashvani. She has served as a dialogue and script writer for filmmakers including Girish Kasaravalli and T.N. Seetharam. Currently, she works with ‘Parisara Balaga’.
Meena Mysore gains the Gunasagari Nagaraj Award for Children’s Literature for ‘Sooryana Sere’. As a government officer, she has held positions such as News Editor at Chandana and Senior Editor at ‘Yojana’. She has collaborated with theatre figures like B.V. Karanth and U.R. Ananthamurthy, and her publications include travelogues, poetry, children’s plays, and translations.
This recognition underscores the contributions of these writers to Kannada literature from Mysuru.
