Authorities captured three alleged members of the criminal group Los Jinetes del Kilate for the homicide of Doctor Hernando Vargas Díaz, which occurred on September 1, 2025, in Pitalito.
The arrests took place in Pitalito and Facatativá, Cundinamarca, nine months after the crime. The detainees, identified by the aliases Pedro or Piquiña, Guajiro and Loco Meneses, are accused as the material authors of the homicide and other offenses such as qualified theft and illegal possession of firearms.
Colonel Alberto Duarte Reyes, commander of the Huila Police Department, stated that the captures resulted from joint work by the Criminal Investigation Section, Police Intelligence and the CTI of the Attorney General's Office. The three men have more than 18 entries in the penal system.
The doctor was attacked with a firearm while on a motorcycle at Carrera 2 with Calle 16, in front of the Café Mall shopping center, in the Sucre neighborhood of Pitalito. Authorities said the detainees must face justice for homicide and other crimes.
