A key witness protected by prosecutors has revealed names of alleged perpetrators in the murder of Ronald Rojas Ramos, alias ‘Ramiro Durán’, in July 2022 in Huila. Judge Lina Marcela Cleves in Neiva uncovered initial leads, confirmed by the prosecutor. The killing was planned at a dissident Farc meeting.
On July 4, 2022, around 6:50 p.m., Ronald Rojas Ramos was shot dead at El Cebador farm, Cuisinde vereda, Palermo, Huila, during patron saint festivities. Two 5.56 caliber rounds hit his torso without a bulletproof vest, and a third struck a wall. Escorts fired back, but the attacker fled.
A key witness gave statements in February and March 2024, naming Daniel Bolaños Trujillo, alias ‘Diván’ or ‘Muelas’, as the gunman from Comandos de Frontera. The order came from a meeting at a farm near San Miguel river, Puerto Asís, Putumayo, where alias ‘Barbas’ proposed the hit. Others named include ‘Indio Uriel’, Giovanny Andrés Rojas alias ‘Andrés Araña’, William Suárez Cruz alias ‘Arbey’, and Fredy Pasinga Chapal.
The specialized prosecutor confirmed the witness account. The motive was strategic: remove Rojas to challenge Danilo Ambizu of Frente Carolina Ramírez for territorial and financial control in former Farc areas.
The family sued the state for security lapses, but Judge Lina Marcela Cleves of Neiva’s Seventh Administrative Court ruled for the state. She attributed exclusive fault to the victim for not wearing the vest, rotating escorts, and exposing himself in a rural area without proper precautions.
