Two senators may switch to Gatchalian bloc

The Senate could form a decisive majority tomorrow to install Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian as Senate president, Sen. Erwin Tulfo revealed.

Tulfo said at least three senators are being courted to switch from Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano’s faction. At least one male senator and one female senator may support Gatchalian, along with Sen. Joel Villanueva.

"Hopefully the prayer of everyone, not just us, is for this to end so we can go back to normal," Tulfo told DZRH. Eleven senators currently back Gatchalian, including Tulfo, Vicente Sotto III and Risa Hontiveros.

Gatchalian serves as acting Senate president after his election as Senate President Pro Tempore on June 3. Thirteen votes are needed for the permanent post. Malacañang called a special session for June 17.
