Växjö's Sebastian Strandberg out with leg injury

Sebastian Strandberg, a center for Växjö, suffered a leg injury during their 2-1 victory over Luleå. The 33-year-old player was forced to leave the game after a duel that put all his weight on one leg. He is expected to miss a couple of weeks.

In the SHL match at Vida Arena, Växjö secured a 2-1 win against Luleå Hockey. During the game, landslagsmeriterade forward Sebastian Strandberg, 33, was involved in a duel with Luleå's Brendan Shinnimin. Strandberg unfortunately bore the full weight of his body on one leg, causing him to collapse on the ice.

Assisted by teammates, he left the rink in visible pain and later visited the hospital for a medical examination. On Friday, Växjö announced the results. “Sebastian Strandberg drabbades under gårdagens hemmamatch mot Luleå Hockey av en benskada. Detta innebär att 'Basse' kommer bli borta ett par veckor,” said Växjö's head coach Björn Hellkvist to the club's website.

Strandberg is in his second season with Växjö, where he has recorded 13 points (6 goals and 7 assists) in 36 games. His contract with the team expires in the spring. Originally from HV71, he has previously played in the SHL for HV71, Djurgården, Linköping, and Växjö.
