Wang Yi says China and India should view each other as partners

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi told India's national security adviser Ajit Doval in New Delhi that China and India should regard each other as cooperation partners rather than competitors.

Wang Yi met Doval in New Delhi on Monday while attending the 16th Meeting of BRICS National Security Advisors.

Wang said the two countries' leaders agree that China and India are cooperation partners, not competitors. This provides strategic guidance for bilateral ties. He urged faster restoration of dialogue mechanisms and expanded exchanges in trade, finance, law enforcement and media, while keeping the boundary question in proper perspective.

Doval said India is ready to view relations with China from a strategic perspective, accelerate improvement of ties and seek win-win outcomes. India's position on the Taiwan question remains unchanged.

Both sides agreed to support each other's core concerns, uphold multilateralism and help accelerate modernization of the Global South.
