Wesley So, born in Bacoor, Cavite, secured 17 points in the double-round event. He defeated world number one Magnus Carlsen twice and also beat Alireza Firouzja in the final round on June 5. R Praggnanandhaa of India won the tournament with 18 points. The 20-year-old from Chennai recorded classical victories over Firouzja, Carlsen, Gukesh Dommaraju and Vincent Keymer. So collected $37,823, equivalent to P2.34 million. He rose to world number seven with an Elo rating of 2764.6 after the event. Firouzja finished third with 15.5 points while Carlsen placed fourth with 13 points. The scoring system awarded three points for a classical win.
