World’s first outdoor Pokémon park opens in Tokyo this week

The world’s first permanent outdoor Pokémon park, PokéPark KANTO, is set to open on February 5, 2026, in western Tokyo. Located within Yomiuriland, it features Pokémon Forest and Sedge Town for visitors to explore, drawing crowds from Japan and abroad as a new tourism attraction. All presale tickets through early April have already sold out.

PokéPark KANTO is located within the premises of Yomiuriland, an amusement park straddling Inagi in Tokyo and Kawasaki in neighboring Kanagawa Prefecture. Spanning around 2.6 hectares, it includes Pokémon Forest and Sedge Town, home to over 600 Pokémon. The forest area, about 500 meters long, allows visitors to explore as if they were Pokémon trainers, observing the creatures in their natural habitat amid grassy hills, tunnels, and rocky trails. Pokémon are abuzz with activity—some play or battle, others dig through the landscape or hunt for berries. A lone Cubone can be seen crying for its mother off the beaten path, while moves like Tail Whip echo among numerous Pikachu and Eevee. A Sentret and Furret appear shocked by something massive they've spotted. Due to steep inclines and stairs, entry to the forest is restricted for children under 5, those unable to climb 110 steps independently, and users of wheelchairs or strollers. Sedge Town bustles as a hub for Pokémon trainers, with facilities like the Pokémon Trainers’ Market, Pokémon Center, and Poke Mart for shopping and dining. Exclusive original merchandise is available, alongside Pokémon-themed food and drinks, such as Pikachu’s Onigiri Shop and Snorlax’s Popcorn. Attractions include the Pika Pika Paradise, a ride powered by electric-type Pokémon featuring Pikachu, and the Vee Vee Voyage, a carousel with various Pokémon like Rapidash and Eevee. The Sedge Gym hosts daily stages and events, while the Pokémon Playhouse offers meet-and-greets. Parades take place at specific times. Tickets come in three types: the Ace Trainer’s Pass at ¥14,000 ($90) for adults, granting full access, ride tickets, and reserved seats for Sedge Gym shows; the Trainer’s Pass starting at ¥7,900 for entry with separate ride fees and show reservations; and the Town Pass from May at ¥4,700 for Sedge Town only. All include Yomiuriland entry. Domestic tickets via lottery since November or first-come, first-served from January 22; international sales two months in advance, sold out through early April. Purchases are online via the official website.
