Yordan Alvarez and Shohei Ohtani remain the top choices in the latest MLB Most Valuable Player poll conducted by MLB.com. The Astros outfielder leads the American League standings while the Dodgers two-way star heads the National League. The poll reflects votes from 34 experts based on performance through the most recent Sunday.
Alvarez received 163 points and 30 first-place votes in the AL. He leads the league in hits, batting average, home runs and RBIs while posting the best OPS and total bases in MLB.
In the NL, Ohtani earned 158 points and 23 first-place votes. The Dodgers player has 22 home runs and a .907 OPS at the plate along with an 8-2 record and 1.79 ERA in 14 pitching starts, though he has not pitched since July 3 due to a knee issue.
Pete Crow-Armstrong of the Cubs sits second in the NL with 140 points. Junior Caminero of the Rays ranks second in the AL with 111 points. The poll uses a 5-4-3-2-1 voting system and includes 29 players who received at least one vote.
