Biometric CURP takes effect across Mexico

The Biometric Clave Única de Registro de Población (CURP) took effect on October 16, 2025, across Mexico's 32 states. Though not mandatory yet, its update is recommended for security and locating missing persons. The process is free and available at pilot modules.

From today, non-binary and trans people in Colombia can modify the 'sexo' field in their civil registry, identity card, and citizenship ID. The National Civil Registry Office incorporated the categories 'no binario' (NB) and 'trans' (T) in physical and digital formats. This change represents progress in guaranteeing rights for diverse gender identities.
